1) Go Hiking

Starved Rock Lodge and State Park is one of the most popular hiking destinations near Bloomington-Normal, IL. Nestled deep within the 2,200 acres of the National Park within Utica, IL, hikers can explore a variety of trails and enjoy stunning views. This activity is perfect for kids because it's not too strenuous, but still offers a lot of adventure.

If you're lucky, you might even see some of Illinois' native wildlife while on one of Starved Rock's hiking trails! The park is home to White-tail deer, wild turkey, red foxes, and raccoons.

3) Go on a hayride

Hayrides are one of the most popular fall activities here in Redbird Country. At many farms, it's not just a hayride, but a chance to go on an adventure! You can find pumpkin patches and corn mazes, haunted houses, and more! A lot of hayrides are open until November, so you have plenty of time for adventures this season. There is also usually a snack or meal afterward.

4) Visit Rader Family Farms

Whether you live in Normal, IL, or not, Rader Family Farms is an excellent place for a family outing. There is so much to see and do, it will keep everyone entertained for hours. From the pumpkin patches to their unique food and market, there's always something new and exciting waiting for you there! Even if you don't get any pumpkins, there are so many fun activities for kids of all ages that it's worth the trip.

Incidentally, they have a hayride there so you can do two things from this list at once!
